This powerful white buffalo was carved from Gilbert Lonjose from fish rock serpentine. It has inlaid blue turquoise eyes.  The beautiful details include the face, mane, hooves, and tail. It feels very good in the hand.

Buffalo, or American bison, roamed the plains in the millions from Northern Mexico into Canada before colonization.  Buffalo are sacred to many Native American people.  They provided so much the people needed: food, clothing, leather to line tipis and make parfleches which are beautifully painted rawhide containers, tools, and so much more.  There has been success in recent years to bring the buffalo back to the plains, especially to Native American tribes on the plains.
